I am an Australian artist living in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.
My special areas of creative interest include Botanical Art, still life painting and sketching.
In this beautiful environment, I find inspiration for my paintings in native flowers and animals. I love to sketch outdoors, capturing our beautiful light, vivid colours and gentle country.
While working and studying in the field of my professional work, I attended many short courses in painting sketching, colour theory and composition. I attended the Brisbane Institute of Art for evening courses and many weekend workshops at community colleges and urban art salons.
In my life now, I have more freedom and time to develop my knowledge and skills around painting and drawing and I am embracing my opportunities. My creativity finds expression in watercolour, acrylics, charcoal and pencil.
A Natural History Illustration course at Newcastle University, which I recently completed, opened my vision of the natural world, giving me more skill in the development of form and structure in my work. It has enriched a life long interest in Botanical Art.
In times of recent isolation, I am continuing to learn and accessing online classes and tutorials, workshops, shared spaces, virtual galleries and studios. I have been fortunate to learn from well known local artists at Byron School of Art, Ballina Art Society and Byron Community College. In opening this website I am ready to express my interests and show the joy I have discovered in developing my art.
I hope that you enjoy the art I am creating.
