During the week, my paintings were accepted to hang and sell in the Made in Mullum Arts Collective in Burringbah Street Mullumbimby.
It was very exciting to have my work up there with the other wonderful creative work, by some of the artists who are also members of the Collective.
The first work to go up was the Blue Faced Honeyeater, a framed original watercolour and a personal favourite of mine. I love watching these birds in my garden when the Grevilleas are in flower and when they are pinching the coir linings of my hanging baskets to build their nests. I painted this one in March /April 2020, just as we were going into lockdown. It was admired by many people who saw it hanging in my hallway. The painting sold within a couple of days.
I am very happy and hope that it is enjoyed as much by its new owner as it was by me.
The next works that I put up were two of the mushroom series, Lawyers Wigs and Golden Mushrooms. These are two watercolours of fungi which grow in Australia and in other places in the world. I also reproduced these two as limited A3 prints and as greeting cards, which are available at Made in Mullum Collective and here on my website.
I am still working on some other paintings of fascinating fungi.
I will be assisting in the Collective on Friday mornings (from December 4, 2020) if you would like to come in and say hello. There is lots of beautiful hand made jewellery, clothing, ceramics, photographs and cards there..great Christmas presents!
